Spravato®(esketamine) for Treatment-Resistant Depression

Am I a Candidate?

You may be a candidate if you:

Are 18 or older
Have a diagnosis of major depressive disorder (MDD) or treatment-resistant depression
Have tried at least two antidepressant medications without enough relief
Are medically stable and able to attend in-office treatments twice per week during the initial phase
Have reliable transportation home after each session (you cannot drive the day of treatment)

You may not be eligible if you:

Have uncontrolled blood pressure or cardiovascular problems
Are pregnant or planning pregnancy
Have a history of certain conditions (e.g., aneurysm, bleeding disorders)

What to Expect During Treatment

Before treatment

Initial psychiatric consultation to confirm eligibility
Coordination with your insurance for prior authorization
Review of your medical history and current medications

During treatment

Administered in our clinic under direct supervision
You’ll be monitored in a comfortable room for about 2 hours
Side effects may include dizziness, dissociation, nausea, or increased blood pressure (these usually resolve within the monitoring period)

After treatment

You cannot drive; a trusted friend or family member must take you home
Continue therapy and/or medication management as usual
Treatment schedule is typically twice weekly for 4 weeks, then gradually less often
